J. Douglas Wallace grew up in Winter Park, Florida and graduated from Winter Park High School in 1965. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina, acquiring a BA in English Literature in 1969. He then entered the Naval Flight School in June of 1969, completing the Naval Jet Training program and receiving his “wings” in October of 1970. Mr. Wallace flew A-4 Skyhawks and F-4 Phantoms and left the services as a Commander serving eight years on active duty and an additional 7 years in the Naval Reserves. He subsequently received a Master’s Degree in human Resources from the University of Oklahoma in 1975 and served as an Assistant Professor for three years, teaching leadership, management and organizational behavior. He received an MBA from Rollins College in 1985.
Serving as a roofing contractor for 15 years before becoming a professional roofing consultant over 25 years ago, Mr. Wallace has personally inspected over 40,000 roofs from Hawaii to Morocco. He has worked as a consultant with Starwood/Vistanna Timeshare Properties for 25 years developing managing and budgeting techniques that allow for efficient repair and replacement of roofing systems. Working with companies such as Marriott, Blue Green and Holiday Inn, Mr. Wallace additionally develops replacement specifications for condominium associations and apartment complexes to insure compliance manufacturer installation guidelines and local building ordinances.
Mr. Wallace has given numerous presentations to many organizations relating to all facets of roofing materials and installation procedures. He has developed a loyal clientele in both the legal community and the insurance industry. As an expert witness, he is recognized for his ability to accurately and unambiguously explain complex roofing issues. With over 40 years in the roofing industry he has acquired both knowledge and experience critical in the analyzation of roofing problems. Christopher A. Bowman is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) that has more than 30 years of comprehensive construction consulting experience. Mr. Bowman’s construction consulting experience includes responsibility for building envelope and roofing consulting for residential, commercial, resort and institutional clients. Mr. Bowman manages and performs a variety of services that include: field investigations, infrared and nuclear moisture surveys, destructive testing, roof uplift testing, window testing, preparation of reports, design of roofing systems, development and preparation of bid packages and Contract Documents, inclusive of technical specifications and drawings, preparation of cost estimates, contractor proposal evaluations, roof asset management and expert witness. Project management responsibilities also include conducting pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings and project progress meetings, coordination of on-site quality assurance services and testing, monitoring project progress, performance and budgetary conditions, review of contractor requests for information, change orders and payment applications, as well as complete construction administration of roofing activities.
Through 30 years of construction industry experience, Dan Sinay has gained knowledge of low-slope and steep-slope roofing, waterproofing, sheet metal, stucco & EIFS, fenestration (windows & doors) and other construction-related materials and processes literally “from the ground up”. He possesses a working knowledge of all phases of the construction industry.
During his tenure as a roofing and waterproofing consultant, Dan has conducted investigative roofing, waterproofing and building envelope analyses for litigation support, specification development and cost analysis. In addition, Dan has designed roofing and waterproofing systems and provided services such as Roof Project Management, Pre-Bid and Pre-Job Conferences, Quality Assurance Observations, and Final Inspections. Dan has also has vast experience in wind uplift testing, Infrared thermography, nuclear moisture testing, and window testing.
As a construction defect Expert Witness, Dan has been involved in numerous litigation investigations related to building envelope waterproofing issues and has provided Expert Witness testimony in mediations, depositions and at trial.
Dan’s Building Envelope Quality Assurance Inspection credentials include many high profile projects for clients such as The University of Central Florida, Volusia County FL, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World, Tampa International Airport, Coco Cola, and Kennedy Space Center.
“Hands-on” experience includes working as a roofing contractor, roofing estimator, and project manager for both large-scale and small-scale commercial and residential projects. Dan also held positions at the University of Central Florida as the building envelopes professional, and the Assistant Director of General Contracting.
Dan is a licensed Florida general contractor CGC 1518681, and a level 1 certified infrared thermographer.
Joel D Hammock was born in Miami, Florida with current residence in Orange County Florida for the past 64 years. Mr. hammock worked for the family-owned Hammock Brothers Roofing from 1970 to 2002. Joel D Hammock has been licensed as a State Certified Roofing Contractor since 1980. During that time, he managed business operations for the commercial roofing division. Mr. Hammock has extensive experience in leak detection and repair methods. Mr. Hammock joined WJA in 2002 and currently leads our team for insurance related roof investigations and determining the cause of damage, repairability and replacement requirements, and legal opinions. Other services include inspections for new construction with various types of applications, conducting pre-construction meetings, submittal and specification reviews, and Q & A monitoring and reporting. Hammock is recognized in the Civil Courts of Florida as an expert witness in the roofing field.
